Prescribing policy
How we prescribe
Medication decisions start with an evaluation, never before one. This is what to expect, and what we will not do.
Before anything is prescribed
Cedric sees you for a full evaluation first. He does not prescribe at a first call, by message or by email. At the end of the visit he explains the options, the risks of each and what he would watch for, and you decide together.
One change at a time
When something changes, one thing changes. That makes it possible to tell what helped and what did not. You are told what to watch for and when to call.
Controlled medicines
- We do not prescribe controlled medicines, including stimulants, at the first visit.
- Before any controlled medicine, we check the Oklahoma prescription monitoring program.
- We do not prescribe controlled medicines by video.
- We may ask for records from your other prescribers, and we may ask you to sign a medicine agreement.
- We may decline a prescription, and when we do we tell you why.
Refills and changes between visits
Refills are reviewed at a visit, and a refill request by message is answered on a business day. We cannot manage a medicine for someone we have not seen. Pharmacy and lab charges come from the pharmacy and the lab.
When we refer you elsewhere
If your care needs something we do not do, such as talk therapy, an emergency visit or another kind of clinician, we say so and give you names. Our scope is adult outpatient psychiatry.
If you are in crisis
We are not a crisis service. Call or text 988 at any time. In an emergency, call 911.
Questions about a medicine?
Write to the office on a business day, or bring them to your visit.
